Alerts
Teratrax Performance Monitor allows you to configure a number of
performance alerts from Teratrax Performance Viewer. In addition, you
can configure a "Server Down Alert" from the copy of
Teratrax Performance Agent monitoring
your server. A Server Down Alert basically sends you an e-mail when the
monitored instance stops responding to client requests.
All other alerts are created and managed from Teratrax Performance
Viewer:
- Slow SQL Batches (Including SP calls): An e-mail will be
sent to the specified address when a batch exceeds a certain duration.
- Slow RPC: An e-mail will be sent to the specified address
when a Remote Procedure Call exceeds a certain duration.
- Process Blocking Events: An e-mail will be sent to the
specified address when a block event occurs.
- Deadlock Events: An e-mail will be sent to the specified
address when a deadlock event occurs.
- Failed SQL Agent Job Event: An e-mail will be sent to the
specified address when a job fails.
- Slow SQL Agent Job: An e-mail will be sent to the specified
address when a job exceeds a certain duration.
Monitoring Multiple Servers
E-mail alerts like the Server Down Alert and job
alerts are very helpful, especially for monitoring large
enterprises. You can monitor the availability of all your servers and
receive an e-mail message if any server stops responding without having
to manually check all servers. Job alerts allow you to get notified when
a job fails or takes a long period of time to execute without having to
navigate through hundreds of jobs to check for failure.
SMTP Server
The SMTP server used to send e-mail alerts is configured in
Teratrax Performance Agent.
