Teratrax Source Guard Help
Teratrax Source Guard is a stored procedure, trigger, and view editor
that is natively integrated with Microsoft Visual SourceSafe. The Server
Explorer in Teratrax Source Guard provides full support for
team collaboration and group development by allowing you to check out
database objects before you can work with them. Once you're done with your
changes, check in your stored procedures, triggers, or views back to
Microsoft Visual SourceSafe to allow other users to modify them. During the
time the object is checked out, Teratrax Source Guard prevents all other
users from editing or modifying it (see Controlling Access to Stored Procedures, Triggers, and Views).
With Teratrax Source Guard, all you need to do is map your database to a
Microsoft Visual SourceSafe folder and Source Guard will do the rest. There
is no need to script objects out in order to add them to Microsoft Visual
SourceSafe.
After you check out database objects from Teratrax Source Guard, you can
open them for editing by right-clicking and selecting "Edit...". Once the
object is open, make your changes to the SQL code then click "Run" to run
them against the database server. As long as you have the object checked
out, other users cannot edit them from Teratrax Source Guard. However, they
can edit them from Enterprise Manager or Query Analyzer. To restrict editing
to Source Guard only, please read the help section "Controlling Access to Stored Procedures, Triggers, and Views".
As far as object status in SourceSafe is concerned, once you check an
object out from Source Guard, it is checked also out in SourceSafe. The opposite
is also true. You can check out from SourceSafe and the change will
automatically show in Source Guard when you refresh the screen.
